Confession…Still Good?

Nehemiah 9:1-38 “And they stood up in their place and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God for a quarter of the day; for another quarter of it they made confession and worshiped the Lord their God.”

How do You Respond?

Nehemiah 8:1-18 “And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God, and all the people answered, “Amen, Amen,” lifting up their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground.”

That’s a Lot of Names!

Nehemiah 7 “But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1

A Leader in the Cross-hairs

Nehemiah 6 “For this purpose he was hired, that I should be afraid and act in this way and sin, and so they could give me a bad name in order to taunt me.”

A Battle from Within

Nehemiah 5 “Now there arose a great outcry of the people and of their wives against the Jewish brothers.”

Nehemiah 3 “Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests, and they built the Sheep Gate.”

Faith in the Face of Fear

Nehemiah 2 And the king said to me, ” Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of the heart.” Then I was very much afraid.

The Assessment

Nehemiah 1 “The remnant there in the province who had survived the exile is in great trouble and shame. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are destroyed by fire.”

The Proof is in the Work

Philippians 2:12-18 “…work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”
